what are the most relevant green companies?
I’m doing a 10 minute talk about how i see the future for the enviroment, I was thinking maybe i could say that thanks to higher oil prices, the green movement and companies like google (http://www.google.com/corporate/green/energy/index.html) i see a bright and clean future for the enviroment, but i want to talk about more companies, so any suggestions?
links to their aproach on ecology would be nice.
Anything else you think i should base on my “bright future” speech?
Key points for me would be:
* No product is really green, they are only ‘GREENER’ the most environmentally friendly thing you can do is stop buying as much stuff.
*Green DIY products are not as green as conservation. The greenest home is one that saves energy (conservation), seal up drafts, turn down the heat, hang long curtains, fit timers on thermostats ect.
* Taking out/replacing existing products to replace with new green technology is not green. It is wasting embodied energy.
*So repair and reuse and don’t buy as much stuff. Then if you really have to replace, buy secondhand. If the goods are not available then buy green products.
*There are a lot of household products now that use people power (are wind up such as torches, radios etc) or use solar energy (outside lanterns or solar cookers). There are also a lot of conventional products like washing machines and fridges that have energy efficient ratings as well as those marketed as green.
