What is the most likely energy source that can replace fossil fuel?

World is demanding more and more energy.Crude oil price is getting to record high almost every week. Apart from the problems associated with crude such as global warming, environmental degredation just to mention few, crude oil cant be here forever, its a matter of time before the world crude oil runs out. Already we have alternative like fuel cell, wind, solar, wave etc. What is the mostly likely source of energy to replace crude oil ?

Electricity, is the only truely renewable energy source there is, given that we can produce it by harnessing natures power.

How it will be produces will probably be in a veriety of ways, most likely being hydroelectricity, so tidal power or dams as its the only way in which a reliable and constant power source can be achieved in all weather conditions.

However, scientists are working on creating a sort of “minature sun” here on earth, which would give out vast amounts of energy which can then be converted into electricity, but this is still very far away and have only been able up until now to make the “sun” last for a milliseconds, so i’m going to stick hydroelectric power as the main source for now.

As for cars, the problem is that electricity is difficult to store efficiently, so the mostly likely source i think is hydrogen, but of course it will probably be made by electrolysis using electricity, then is converted back into electricity in the hydrogen fuel cell in the vehicles to power the car. The person who works out how to store and use hydrogen efficiently and practically in vehicles first is going to be a very rich man, as at the moment the greatest problem is the storage of it, as it requires heavy tanks at high pressure.

there are my thoughts anyway. Technology advances very fast so who knows we may find some sort of miracle fuel.
