transfer free energy

How much energy does a mitochondria need to function?
know it is the aerobic metabolism, and it’s job is to make energy, but how much energy does it use for itself just to function?
This is a weird question and I’m expecting a lot of answers about oxidation potentials and Gibbs free energy because of the nature of the electron transfer chain… I wonder how the chain even gets started…
let me know If this wording is kind of fuzzy
Energy is always wasted.
However some wasted energy keeps your cells warm,
Can you count that as a waste?
